PAST EVENT UPDATE

The Rumba was March 6th and as always, it was a very successful event. I believe everyone had a good time and enjoyed some very good (but bad) festival food. Of course the main reason for the event is to raise money for this years benefactor, Lumberton Christian Care Center. In past years, the Robeson Road Runners have been able to give upwards of $10,000 to the events benefactor. Final totals are not in yet, but if the crowd was any indication, we should have no problem meeting or exceeding that goal. We have received very positive comments about the event and it continues to grow every year. Thank you all for supporting the Road Runners. As soon as the money figures have been released, I'll post them in the blogspot.

UPCOMING EVENTS IN DOWNTOWN

May 14th is the kick-off for Lunchtime on the Plaza. This event will feature live entertainment with a bag lunch that includes a grilled burger, bag of chips, slice of cake and drink for $3.50. Dates for this event are May 14th, 21st and 28th from 11:30am - 1:30pm. Come out and enjoy the sounds of "Harlequin", "Valerie Humphrey" (M. Jackson Impersonator) and the "Black Water Rhythm and Blues Band".

Alive After 5 Summer Concert Series has been slated. Upcoming artists: Thursdays, May 27th – Mark Roberts & Breeze, June 3rd – Craig Woolard Band, June 10th – Fantastic Shakers, June 17th – Band of Oz and June 24th – Jim Quick and Coastline. As you can see we have added a 5th concert this year (by popular demand). Concerts start at 6:30pm and will conclude at 9:30pm. We are looking forward to a "hot" line-up with some hot weather to go with it. That's why they call it a Summer Concert Series.

April, May and June will be very busy months, offering plenty of outdoor activity for everyone. Get involved!

Moving Forward

It's a pleasure to work for the City of Lumberton and serve the citizens of our great community. I hope you will take the time to visit Historic Downtown Lumberton to enjoy the changes that have already been made. New loft apartments are under construction at 318 Elm Street, new planter beds, baskets and streetscape. Utility lines have been buried on Elm Street with new paving. Newly painted lamp post with new lamp fixtures and much more. As you can see, so much has been done but there is still alot to do. Thank you for supporting Downtown Lumberton!
